I was recently at a VM User’s Group (VMUG) meeting and heard mention of using Google to isolate searches to one website. I assumed this was possible, but I hadn’t looked into it. For instance, VMware’s website search is not as good as using Google to search the VMware website. To focus Google’s search to one specific website, type the following in the Google search:
searchstring site: sitetosearch.domain
example:
esxcfg-vmknic site:vmware.com
Google is celebrating their tenth birthday. One of the things they did was to bring back their first index from January 2001. It is pretty interesting to use this to search for some of your favorite things. It is amazing to see how far we have come in search engine technology.
