For project 365 day 14 I have chosen a picture from the nieces swim meet.  It is amazing the amount of effort they put into each and every race.  They a are building a foundation for an amazing feature.  They are learning that putting in hard work on a daily basis pays off over time.  Below is a picture from one of their races.  It was amazing to see how proud there were of their times.

Over at coldeplex there is another great project that I wanted to let you know about.  The project is called image resizer and is clone of the old Image Resizer XP Powertoy.  The tool was created by Brice Lambson to support new operating systems and also 64 bit operating systems.  The tool lets you quickly resize your pictures by just right clicking the picture and select resize picture.  You then have the option of creating a small, medium, large, or mobile device size.  This tool is one of the must haves when I install a new operating system.

It is always nice to be able to scan your computer with a couple different anti virus programs.  The only problem is that you can only have one installed at a time.  That is where the free online scan by Panda comes in very handy.  The scan allows you to make sure your current program is offering the protection you think it should be.  The scan tool might also find hidden threats on your PC that you were not aware of.  The process is very simple and I encourage to try it out.

I just wanted to post a quick reminder that Microsoft will be taking down the Windows 7 release candidate from their website on August 20th.  So if you want a free way to evaluate Windows 7 you will have to get it downloaded in the next couple of days.  The latest release candidate is good until March 1, 2010 and they automatic shutdowns do not start until June 1, 2010.

Microsoft has released the cities they will be holding the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 launch event at.  The event will also include Exchange 2010.  The best thing about the launch event is that you will receive a copy of the Windows 7.  You should sign up as soon as possible as I know some of the cities will fill up fast.  I personally do plan on attending even though I will have to travel several hours to reach one of the cities.  I will try to post more as I read about the event when it kicks of its first round on September 24th.

I have posted about this software program once before but it still seems like there are allot of people that are not aware of it.  So hopefully I can convince a few more people to go out and try Avast.  It currently supports over thirty different languages so just anybody can find Avast useful.

It seems like I have been getting called by allot of family and friends lately that are having virus problems.  The first thing I usually do when I start working on their computer is trash their current program they are using for virus protection.  Avast Home Edition is a superior product and has helped in every situation I have had to resolve so far.  One of the greatest parts is that is is free to home users and I look like the hero because they just got their computer fixed for free.

Avast Home Edition is an ICSA certified antivirus  along with being certified anti-spyware and anti-rootkit program.  The home edition has on demand scanning, on access scanner, and a boot time scanner.  I think that the boot time scanner is probably one of the biggest features since this allows the program to do a deep dive of the system before dangerous virus and spyware programs get loaded into memory.

If you have a home PC I highly recommend trying this program over any other antivirus programs that are out there.   Please let me know your experiences with the program.

Serverninjas can now be read on your mobile device.  Taking suggestions from readers I have installed MobilePress plugin for wordpress.  If I would have known it was this easy I would have done it a long time ago.  Even though I had always dealt with it the rendering on my mobile device it is allot better now.   Please let me know if you have any other suggestions that will make this blog a better place to visit.
